C. Sim, the only other auditor should be able to insert the batteries properly, because the light works well with Energizer NiMH 2500mAh, Rayovac NiMH 1300mAh, and my Sanyo 2000 mAh batteries. There is nothing special (no special circuit) in AA batteries by Sony. Only Sony camcorder to use the circuit information. Do NOT use regular alkaline batteries, dry cells, as it can burst because of high energy consumption and heating.
The light is so bright that you do is look straight. It's like a glimpse into MAG light lens. The only reason I have this light is a 4 / 5, really needs a better light diffuser. It is a huge hot spot in the center of the light bulb is available. I suggest going to save a photo or click ebay for a diffuser that will fit over the front (and do not melt). We will not waste $ 40 on the lamp 3Watt and have emptied the big camcorder battery. They are very happy with this light.

I found the light is only useful for close up work, where light is needed. It offers little more than a little close to record video. And that's what we wanted to anyway!
little heavy – if the line adapter is nice – it would be even better if the camcorder (DCR-SR40), the "Hot Shoe", which was used directly to light. . . I'll just have to be used in specific columns (this is strongly Sony AA-size alkaline batteries and warns against the use of regular alkaline AA batteries – so that loss of comfort … this is the only light I could see that the my camcorder, but was generally in line, the lighting is good. After all, this was the only light that is compatible with Sony recognizes my camcorder – but it is more a less the same camcorder, I think!
